Sobriety Coaching
Sobriety coaching is a cutting edge, empowering, goal oriented approach to help you achieve long term sobriety . Depending on the unique needs of each client and which stage of recovery you're working on it may consist of a large range of different focus areas. It is a strictly confidential and personalized service to help you get sober, stay sober and learn how to live alcohol free without cravings. As a trained mental health professional and a fellow alcoholic with 19 years sobriety, I provide you with a combination of both professional and personal expertise, guidance, advice, education and support. I will be your partner on your path to sobriety. Sobriety coaching may consist of one the following options or a combination of several or all: All services are offered via telephone. Nutrition and Diet for Alcoholism CoachingDiet and nutrition are critical for achieving long term sobriety. Learn how to use the biochemical approach ( a successful and proven method of recovery) to assist in detox, help manage cravings, relieve anxiety, depression and other roller coaster emotions that may jeopardize your recovery. Determine your individual body chemistry, identify possible metabolic disorders and nutritional deficiencies that may hinder your success in sobriety. Create a diet plan and accompanying nutritional support to support your body and assist in biochemical repairs. Develop a successful recovery plan that is unique to your individual needs. Early Stages of Recovery CoachingThe first few months of sobriety are the most critical and difficult. Learning to live life again without the crutch of alcohol is the biggest challenge and there may be a variety of factors that impact success. Many people find it helpful to have someone to be accountable to. A sobriety coach can be that person as well as someone to remind you of where you've been, where you can end up and where you can go. It's healing and encouraging to share with someone who's been through your experience and survived. Having a support system in early recovery is essential and I can provide that support for you on many different levels which may include any or all of the following: - A safe haven to be open and honest. - Develop coping strategies - Relationship issues - Self esteem issues - Dealing with employment and social events - Coping with and expressing feelings - Learning to live with day to day frustrations - Communication skills - Interacting with family and friends - Help staying out of delusions and rationalization - Childhood abuse issues - Offer encouragement when the road looks pretty bleak - Parenting issues Relapse PreventionRelapse can occur for a variety of reasons. The first and most important component is the biochemical aspect. We will make sure you have all the bases covered on the diet and nutritional aspect and make adjustments accordingly as you progress through recovery. Once you have a solid foundation in the biochemical, there are many other secondary issues that can be potential dangers. Secondary issues may include too much time on your hands, unresolved feelings from childhood, relationship issues, hanging out with old friends or in old places, breaking old habits, etc. If you've been an alcoholic for a good amount of time there is a certain amount of learned behaviors and responses that need to be unlearned and replaced with healthier alternatives. We will determine your specific triggers and develop safeguards to put in place. You'll learn how to avoid triggers when possible and face them successfully when it's not. No one has the same exact path. Each person faces different and unique challenges. How does Sobriety Coaching differ from traditional counseling or a sponsor?Traditional counseling is focused on diagnosis and treatment of pathology, while a sponsor aims to help you work the 12 steps. In sobriety coaching the focus is on problem solving. I'm not a medical doctor and I don't diagnose mental disorders. Coaching may incorporate certain aspects of counseling, such as exploring feelings and motivations, looking at the past and how it impacts the present, etc., but for the most part, it is solution focused and goal oriented. If you're looking for a treatment center that offers successful treatment with the biochemical approach, I can refer you to the most appropriate source and then assist you through the process. A sobriety coach is similar to a sports coach in that I will provide instruction, direction, training and advice with the goal of helping you to the best you can be at your game. However, the game in this case is recovery and instead of leading you down the field for a touchdown our goal will be long term sobriety. Sobriety coaching provides you with the best possible tools, skills and means needed to win the game. We will work as a team to help you develop a successful recovery plan, however just like in sports, it is still your responsibility to work hard and apply what you learn. Different Levels of Sobriety Coaching Depending on your individual needs there are also many different levels of service you may receive. For example, you may wish to do one hour phone consultations as needed or you may desire a monthly sobriety coaching package. A package is designed by you and me to meet your specific needs. It will include unlimited email correspondence and a set amount of regularly scheduled phone consultations that we will agree upon. These consultations may be several times a day, or several times a week, depending on your stage of recovery, the symptoms you're experiencing and other factors in your life that may impact your recovery. Packages can be adjusted over time as needed. For example: Client A has just purchased the "7 Weeks to Sobriety" book and finished their detox phase. They feel the need to have phone and email support available to them several times a day through this critical stage. However, the following month they are more stable and confident and only require phone and email support several times a week. Then the following month, they are even more capable of standing on their own two feet, so they only require phone support once a week. If you desire a coaching package, the procedure is to set up an hour consultation so that we can discuss your needs and preferences and make sure we are a good fit. One Hour Phone Consultation $65.00You can continue hourly sessions as you need them or make arrangements for a more complex package. Secure Payments Made Through PayPal
